ABOUT ABOUT

WHO CAN JOIN US?
Anyone! Let's bring old friends and make new ones!

WHAT IS FRIENDSGIVING?
Friendsgiving is a blend of friend and Thanksgiving, and it refers to a large meal eaten with friends either on or near Thanksgiving.

WHAT IS LIWETAN?
Liwetan is a tradition from East Java, Indonesia, to mark a special ritual, life stage or for celebration. Typically, friends and families gather to enjoy foods served on banana leaves, which enhance the aroma and aesthetic of the food! The Liwetan feast usually includes 6 courses served together: rice, variety of side dishes, sambal chilli, cracker, vegetables & meat.

Proceeds from this feast will go towards Project Maroso lead by our founder Sinta Penyami. Sinta and her team are about to embark on an exploratory visit to Palu to see the conditions there several months after the earthquake and tsunami that ripped the land apart.
The goal of this trip is to both document local perspectives on the community's current and future well-being, and share those perspectives and insights with the world through social media and YouTube.
