WHAT IS FRIENDSGIVING?
Friendsgiving is a blend of friends and Thanksgiving, and it refers to a large meal eaten with friends either on or near Thanksgiving.
WHAT IS LIWETAN?
Liwetan is a tradition from East Java, Indonesia, to mark a special ritual, life stage or celebration. Typically, friends and families gather to enjoy foods served on banana leaves, which enhance the aroma and aesthetic of the food! The Liwetan feast usually includes 6 courses served together: rice, variety of side dishes, sambal chili, cracker, vegetables & meat.
Proceeds from this feast will go towards Sinta's work in preserving the traditional Indonesian culture in Philadelphia. Sinta will also be showing footage from last year's project in Palu, Central Sulawesi.
